Verizon locked bootloader

It is my current understanding that to install GOS the bootloader will need to be unlocked. I have purchased my 7 pro directly from google (unlocked variant). I also know that Verizon specifically is known to lock the bootloader off their phones. My question follows, Is it safe to transfer my Verizon sim card to my unlocked pixel 7 pro before I install GOS? I am concerned that if I do so the bootloader will be locked. I assume they do not have the capability to do this remotely but I want to be 100% sure. Thank you for the help in advance.

The SIM card won't lock the phone.

What locks the phone is the ROM installed on it by default. Verizon ships devices with their OEM with their app and they prevent bootloader unlocking.

So if you add your SIM card, you should be safe. If you add your SIM card after installing GOS, you should be even more safe
