I'm having all sms text messages sent twice with the Messaging app. Cannot find anything in settings to locate the problem. Have tried using different apps. One app didn't show anything as having been sent (QKMS I think that was). But when I've looked on other apps, the messages were in fact sent. I presently have only the one app - Messaging - installed and it is double sending. Open for suggestions, since as soon as a message is sent, I'm having to highlight the second send and delete that one. cheers

I had a similar issue on my Pixel 7. Are you using different default SMS apps for different profiles? For me, the stock SMS app would double send, or atleast appear to, messages when I had a setup like that.

I consisently have issues with SMS if I don't use the stock SMS app whether its not receiving texts on secondary profiles or this double message issue. At this point I have resigned myself to just using the stock SMS app. Its not a major issue just a bit of an annoyance.

Yes, the default app. Tried others, but back to the default now. Either double sending ir no sending with other apps as well. Pixel 8 pro and latest version of graphene.

I had this same issue happen to me. What I did is, made it the default app on both the owner and user. Then I disabled the default sms app. This way, the system only recognizes 1 sms app.

This thread has solved the mystery but not the problem.

I have a Pixel 8 and use Google Messenger on ONE secondary profile and I'm getting double SMS sent out. I really want to sandbox Google Messenger into a secondary profile and not allow it to be running as my default SMS across all the profiles.

IF I have to choose I will return to the default SMS app and wait for the day that this default app includes RCS.

Just want to comment more detail on the solution if others have this issue.

My setup: Pixel 8, running Google Messages in a secondary profile here. I tried to keep all the google activity in the secondary profile. Google messages is the default in all profiles and stock app is disabled.

Result: If Google play service is disabled in Owner or other profile, Google messages will send constant nuisance notifications that it cant run without the service. The 2 fixes I could think of:
1) Mute Google messages notification on owner and let it ERR in the background
2) Enable Google play services in a neutered state in Owner profile by removing all permissions

Opted for 2 because I just didn't know if 1 would have any other issues or drain battery. Texting is working now
