So, this is where we are the moment - with my head ready to explode.
I have referred this problem to MapMyRun support, so now we wait.
In my MapMyRun settings there is a Voice Feedback option which shows as ON.
When I tap it i get a pop up which says:
The phone's text to speech engine is not available, therefore Voic Feedback will not work.
There is an "OK" to press, which I obviously do.
This takes me to the Voice Feedback setup page, withthe following options:
Voice Feedback
Hear your workout stats
This option is turned on
Device Voice Settings
Edit your Text-To-Speech Engine settings
When I tap that I go the Text-to-speech output page
It has a bullet list of options which are:
Preferred engine
RHVoice - which I can change to Google Speech Recognition & Synthesis by tapping it
This is followed by Language, Speech rate and Pitch
Speech rate and Pitch are both functioning and adjustable using the slide then testing with Play.
Yet the app will not connect with any form of audio.
FYI: The app works perfectly well and gives me my workout details, but if you're on a 10klm run the last thing you want to do is stop and have to look at your phone for a progess report.
Nevertheless, thank you both very much for your input which has at least made my TTS install very simple.
