Only pre-set I adjust is to disable auto-downloading images (before copying collection to the phone (and lyrics)), since all my FLACs are well tagged (including embedded cover art). At least earlier versions tended to overwrite my correct cover art with inaccurate online images.

Anyone know a music player that properly plays 41khz and 90+khz files and not go through the 48khz resampling? Or how one and avoid the 48khz limitation?

I am using Obtainium to get all Open Source apps directly from the developers, most via GitHub, but apps only offered on F-Droid, I obtain from there (but also by using the great app Obtainium).

My Voice Mail wont play if I have a music player installed... has anyone else experienced this or know how to resolve the problem... ???

I have to disable the player app to get the voice mail file to play. It has happened with Auxio and Musicolet.

Well... I run a Jellyfin server and I use Finamp to play my music. It lets me download the music or stream it directly from the server. Since you already have MP3s, you may consider running your own Jellyfin server too. I went from zero to fully set up in about 20 minutes using their Docker container. Now I have all of my music on my PC, my Laptop, and my phone just like when I used to use Spotify.

I like anrimians music player, it is very modern, supports auto-play when headphones connect, and stop when disconnecting.

Its very minimal, there is MPV too which may be smaller than VLC but also supports streaming. VLC on desktop includes a ton of multimedia stuff probably stripped from the Android app. MPV is known to "just play media".

Fossify Music Player is also very modern, complete but small.

The most minimal for just playing single media files is one of the minimal dialog players.

It has a very rich feature set, nice UI, even some unique features like Multiple stages of liking a song. Sadly it seems unmaintained, but it doesn't ask for network permission, and it still seems to work for me on GOS.

I really like symphony but since the Update to Android 15 there is no storage scope availabe. You add folders from inside the player and after restarte the player does not find the files, need some seconds and loads them new. It forgets favorites, playlist. Really strange. Does anyone usw it and has a similar behaviour?

I've been using PowerAMP for over 12 years now due to it's music quality (most of my music is in flac) and generally the UI. Tried a few others but stick to it.
Luckily there is the option to buy it without Google Play.
