Not that I would want to take every picture with 50 MP resolution, but the Pro I just bought has it.

Is there a way to activate that resolution with the stock camera app? Sometimes I would like to switch to it for the most detailed resolution for later cropping and such.

I created a test user profile and loaded Open Camera in it but it would only let me select up to 12 MP. I downloaded the "Pixel Camera" oem google app from Aurora and it lets me select 50MP in settings, but I prefer to stay with stock apps if I can.

Regards

currently (ver. 66) High Resolution photography mode (50MP) does not seem possible with the stock camera app.

I've posted something about this before; maybe you'll find that helpful.

Even if it doesn't affect you (you have a Pixel 8 Pro), here's a side note: In the Pixel Camera app, the Pro control options (which also include the toggle function for 50MP shots) only seem to be available on the Pixel 8 Pro, not on the Pixel 8.

Thanks @Murcielago. Hopefully the native camera and/ore Open Camera will support it at some point.

As a side note, when I took a 50MP picture with Pixel Camera and the same pic at 12MP, I couldn't zoom the 50MP much more than the 12MP. Oh well. I'm perfectly happy with 12MP because I don't think I've really ever had a case (other than some cropping) to need more than 2-4 MP :)
