Want a phone for grapheneOS.

I'm looking to get a pixel for graphene but the only new pixel you can get is the 6 and it seems to have quite a few hardware issues ( heating, modem, fingerprint sensor. ) are these mitigated in any way by grapheneOS?

gojuxs no issues with my p6p.. my net price was around 400 usd (after selling my old device, tradein, and a great promo price on goggle fi).. while i looked at waiting for the p7, i cant imagine it will be more than minor updates over the p6p.

I don't feel having any issues with Pixel 6a.
The fingerprint sensor is updated/better on 6a.

Orphee As a 6a user I don't have any of the issues that surrounded the phone at launch and a family members Pixel 6 has also been flawless for them. Every device has it's QC issues. Some worse than others but offset the complaints against units sold and take away the tech media blowing it out of proportion for clicks and you'll realise it isn't that bad, plus most distance sales laws across jurisdictions allow for a 14 day cooling off period alongside Googles (for the rest of their flaws) great RMA services in Warranty. I don't think you need worry too much.

gojuxs No you can delete the AVB key and restore stock before sending back for peace of mind but should your device not be in a state to do so you still don't need to worry.

I use the 4a but have been eyeing the 5a. It has the same eol like the 6 series and there's a bigger battery than most Pixels. Also has the fingerprint scanner located conveniently behind so that's a plus

IamDaedalus eol for 5a is August 2024 for the 6a it's July 2027. Doesn't matter either way though cause atleast in my area there are no 5a's

gojuxs for software updates I mean. They just added 2 more years for security updates but knowing Google maybe they'll extend software support for that long as well

Pixel 6 here. My phone gets warm sometimes, that's it. Never warm enough to worry about I think. Fingerprint reader gets finicky sometimes, so I just move my thumb and try again. If it gets too annoying, I reenroll my thumb. I think the trick is to do a good enrollment, then way fewer issues.
