  • Hi everyone,
I've had a Pixel 4a for a while now with Graphene installed and sometime last year the phone fell because of an overly excited puppy and the screen broke so I left it as is for a while. However there has come a moment when I need some files from the device and I tried scrcpy but turns out it's not authorised for my PC.

I tried scrcpy --otg mode but I can't seem to get even the screen to unlock which I think if I managed to do would make enabling adb authorisation possible. is there any way to authorise my PC and why can't I access the lockscreen?

    Thanks

    • I have been using Graphene for about 6months now and I noticed something since about the last three or so releases
So recently I've noticed that media notification i.e music player notifications transfer to other profiles as well.

This wasn't the case some releases ago but of late, I can be listening to music offline on Profile 1 and when I switch to Profile 2, the notification is still there and I can hit play and continue listening. I've tested it with Musicolet and Spotify and the notification manages to transfer to the other side. Q

I'm making this post for two reasons; the first being, I don't have "Send notifications to current user" on in any profile and the second being I've read multiple times profiles can't access data of another profile. I do have media pinning on though but I don't know if that's the reason it happens that way because I have Spotify in two profiles but when I switch to one without a Spotify I can still listen to music fine.
Another thing I noticed is, I have to pause the song in the profile I'm listening in, switch to the other without the music app before I can listen otherwise the notification is there but I can't listen.

I've also turned off notifications on lock screen just so that I can see only the music notification on the lockscreen.
This post is getting long so I'll end it here but I'm willing to answer any questions if it's not a feature but a bug.

    • abcZ honestly the first point is the main reason I bought a Pixel. I gauged long term support and bootloader unlock as a plus compared to devices like Samsung and went ahead to buy one.

If Google had restricted their hardware like Samsung currently does only a niche few would buy

    • Kryptos I didn't know something we all took for granted could make or break an experience

Now I have to relearn how to live with proper app switching because I still find myself open the app drawer to switch apps instead of the app switcher

    • matchboxbananasynergy oof 😬
Imagine discovering profiles on Stock Android and finding out your app switching is broken as a result
Correct me if I'm wrong but can't the GOS devs PR the fix upstream? I've some changes in GOS has been merged upstream so won't this one be?

    • I think it's a good thing. I don't know for other OEMs but Samsung has done this for ages and believe it or not I've found a Samsung phone I lost through the Android FindMyPhone app because no one could toggle the network without unlocking.

I actually found it odd that Pixel by default allowed you to do that without unlocking and I'm glad Graphene is not

    • I believe this has been an issue for while. It's been present on my 4a for about two weeks now so I've set the black wallpaper for all my profile homescreens

    • Hey same!
The recent update that was pushed seemed to have fixed the issue but it returned a few minutes later.

It's getting really annoying having to keep launching an app from the app drawer every single time when a faster way would be the recent apps list

    • Without adb debugging you'll have to fix the screen otherwise you could use scrcpy to mirror your screen (with adb debugging on of course) and then initiate the copying process

Thanks for your reply. I have three profiles set up to split communication apps from productivity apps so maybe that night be the case.

It's really late rn so what I'll test turning off the toggles in all profiles and try making the call in the morning and update you on the situation

        Thank you

      • So I usually have mic and camera disabled in the quick settings at the top. I got a call today while listening to music with a Bluetooth headphone and was able to speak for the caller to hear me while the mic was marked as disabled.
I found this out when I was about to unlock my device to put down some details. I saw the dialog box asking to turn on mic access even though I could speak.
To make sure this wasn't a one time thing I tested by calling someone and having that person call me again. Both times the mic access was off and yet both times I could speak for the caller to hear.
Again I tested it to be sure it's only when Bluetooth is connected and so I made the same call twice but with the phone's in built mics and both times with the mics disabled, they couldn't hear me.

I don't know if this is intended behaviour or a bug but I wanted to share here just in case

        Thank

        • graphene_enjoyer_xx Gboard is honestly one of the best Android keyboards. Revoke network permissions and you will still have a wonderful experience because the keyboard adapts to you and comes with a plethora of languages and settings

          Try it

        • Yeah I noticed this on my Pixel 4a as well
I don't have blur background, portrait lighting or any of the options I used to have on my stock installation. Please lemme know when you figure it out

          Thanks
