  • I contacted magic Earth regarding Android Auto

Hi,

I contacted magic Earth regarding Android Auto not working for me, I think the reason it's not working is because I didn't install it from the Play store. I asked them if they have any solution so that I don't have to install it from the Play store.

They said I should install ME using the 'KingInstaller app' does anyone know more information about this app and if it's safe?

They sent me this video

Thank you!!!

RRZishe Any particular reason you don't want to use Aurora? Don't know anything about kinginstaller :<

RRZishe hmm, I would think it would still work, Aurora is just a front end for the playstore, but maybe not.

      edit: Have you tried OSMAND?

Osmand would probably suffer from the same issue. Any app not downloaded from the Play Store won't show on Android Auto, unless developer mode is enabled in AA, AFAIK.

Aru sort of. Some applications from F-Droid (Metro, AntennaPod, etc) show up in Android Auto with Developer Options enabled. OSMAnd only showed up when installed from Play Store.

I'm having the same issue with Organic Maps

Did you unlock the Android Auto developer options and in there enable apps from "unknown sources"?

Aru unknown sources just Makes that it shows up on the list. But it still doesn't work

[deleted] 1. I don't like osmand as a GPS 2. it doesn't show up in the app list even if unknown sources are enabled

Could you try HERE WeGo? That's a decent alternative to Google Maps as well.

Yeah, enabling unknown sources in the dev settings doesn't cause Organic Maps, or even Molly (Signal fork) to appear either
