  • Hello, I have forgotten my PIN.

Back when I had an iPhone, my phone regularly asked for the PIN so as to keep it fresh in memory. It would be nice if GOS had this feature, but I'm not complaining since this is on me: I should have saved it in my pw manager (and I'm surprised I did not).

I see some logic is explained at https://grapheneos.org/faq#encryption, such as the progression of time delays between retries (which I don't think is accurate; IIRC, I didn't get bumped up to 240s until my 68th attempt), but I'm not sure about how it counts. For example, my 72nd guess said I had seventy-something seconds rather than 240, and my 73rd guess was reported as #73.

Do I have to worry about whether my 72nd guess was actually correct but not accepted due to the time? The phone doesn't give any indication that I'm in a delay (unless the display is still on from the last attempt).

Second question: while I try to get out of this limbo, I might move my SIM over to another (sadly non-GOS-compatible) phone. Are there any pitfalls to that assuming I recover my GOS phone?
