Theres desktop mode via Display Port that works now, via Developer options on Pixel 8 and 9 series devices. Gives a desktop experience on an external monitor. Its a bit rough around the edges but usable for various tasks and gradually improving.
Looking like 15 QPR1 may bring various improvements to desktop mode, keyboard and mouse/touchpad support.
Google is also doing a lot of work on their VM support for Android. Its something GrapheneOS is looking to add, in part, to make desktop OS apps available. After some work on adding ChromeOS VMs, which was apparently a demo and has now been dropped, Google is now focusing on adding debian VMs

Google doing all this work makes GrapheneOS VM ambitions much easier to achieve.
