  • idk about this specific case with pwa but screen orientation portrait/landscape is different from sensors access, an app with sensors disabled is still being told by the OS when the phone is in portrait or landscape position even when auto-rotation is off system-wide, it is the usual behavior

    • They spoke about it in the chat as if is planned for later but i'm not sure about the timeline if there is any, for now if i had to use it i would put them in a different profile or maybe in private space profile or work profile if it work

    • jmo it just look like he have personal griefs against the ceo and he's trying to cancel him

    • yes for me the big advantage of work profile managed by the usual shelter or island apps is the auto-freeze/unfreeze feature. private space is a nice addition i allow to now run 3 profiles without switching plus you can run a separate user profile on the top of them because the private provide don't seems to count in the 3 profiles running simultaneously limit or maybe they raised it to 4.
That would be nice if the freeze/unfreeze feature was built in the os using the grapheneos app deactivation feature that is already included because no matter what some apps keep starting for whatever reasons without/against the user consent even when force stopped.

    • both provide system features outside of the basic app and thus should not be disabled, gallery is ok to disable

    • only 3 profiles (including work profile) can run at the same time so i should not matter if you have 5 10 or 20 profiles

    • Standard notes app was good before but now is bad to me since like 2 years and even more since they rewrote it to use the webapp code. It is slow to launch even when you disable local encryption as recommended by them to speed it up and disabling grapheneos features, Worse if you use the night theme it is flashing white/black when you launch the app..
Slow to launch and flashing white/black made me disgusted of the app.

For now i just use the free standard notes webapp to transfer texts between android profiles, it's almost like if the webapp is better than the real app and i think it launch quicker

there is some good points for them: they added 2fa to the free tier and Private username mode with no mail needed

    • [deleted] in that case if you do the same on pixel with grapheneos after something like 2 or 3 days it will start discharging from 100% and then stay at 80% with a message "Charging optimized to protect your battery" it is a similar but different feature from the one that OP speak about

collector yea i edited that message, but multiples brands say the same, i know of Apple, Google, Samsung and Huawei at least, i have read the same in the huawei p8 manual despite of it not having that feature at the time they still recommended to charge it to 80%, so i'm not sure what to think about it, why would huawei said that if they didn't even had a feature to limit the charging at that time?

anyways i would not use that feature so i don't mind, i just charge to 100% and unplug

    • it have a feature which turn on itself and limit the charge to 80% if you leave your phone plugged for a long time already, i noticed it when leaving the phone plugged for few days , there is a message in the battery section when it is on

      • sadly this essential feature have been dismissed for years

      • there is a whole section in the faq about it..

      • i have same issue on p8, whatsapp on secondary profile, notification come with no sound in main profile, did someone ever found a fix since?

        • The apps except the gallery don't look that ugly or amateurish to me, it is the material design version 1 or 2, the same design that google used in their apps previously, now they use version 3, Plus i don't spend much time in such apps, i m more worried about some apps like sms targeting old an sdk

        • That article is incorrect on multiples points such as:

Lockdown Mode provides the same security features as would be in place after reboot (before the first unlock).

          is it false

Disable Sensors using dev option and sensor tile.

grapheneos have sensor permission you don't need to enable dev tools sensor tile.

and also it is recommending to disable connectivity check for no reason

          • i found a workaround for my issue , you need to install their Assistant app even if it's just a shortcut and it do not include the assistant, then de-select and re-select google assistant in Default Apps and now it is persisting between profiles sessions as it should, it probably fix your similar issue too Borisb13

          • did you found any fix? It always need to be deselected and selected as voice assistant again when i open the profile where it is installed :(

            • de0u replied to this.
            • Hello there, i tried to search in matrix logs and in the FAQ under "What kind of connections do the OS and bundled apps make by default?" but i haven't found what i was looking for.

I get that IMSService is/could be used to download carriers configs from 3gppnetwork.org (and others idk?) for services such as volte and others but since a while i have been wondering what kind of data do it send to the second domain, a google firebase one, once i tried to look at the source code but i haven't found it on graphene os github so i gave up, now i searched again and not sure if i understand right but is the app is pulled from google rom ? It's not on github, I went to the aosp repo and found it there, while i don't understand what the code is doing, forgive my ignorance, i can read stuff about FirebaseMessaging which seem related, so i was wondering what data is sent out to google or for which feature, i can see that it's not much data and rarely, but i was curious about it since a while. Thanks for your work!
