  • Are we sure phone numbers discussed here aren't simply being spoofed by scammers?

    • geb2 replied to this.
    • DeletedUser84 they do! They operate on the Telstra network in Australia if you get the World SIM. Their SIMs are distributed out of Melbourne, or at least they were a couple years back.

      • For data only https://www.keepgo.com/ is pretty good. They have a local distributor And they send pre activated European based SIMs. It's a bit pricey but they almost always have a 50% off sale on.

Getting a phone number is another issue. I don't have a solution there.

        • FWIW, it's play services that seem to require these permissions not the ING app itself. The app works with only Network access permitted. Not sure exactly why play services requires this but I don't think it's nefarious.

        • Question- does the new network operate it's own towers or is it an MVNO? If it leases towers from your old provider often the provider that operates the towers will be listed.

        • I'm sure he would have given you one is one was available. This has been asked many times if you search NFC you will see for yourself.

A smart watch with NFC payments seems to be to l the only solution for now unless circumstances change.

        • Strange local happenings for sure. Not sure why you would be prompted to log into Google services unless it's a weird default option on your sim card when service is down. I know in my country there was an outage and I was prompted to log into something that I couldn't actually log into, not Google, but a similar behavior.

Purism won't be able to help you, they simply resell TMobile service, so if TMobile is down there's nothing they can do. Plus are known for terrible customer service and seem to be largely a scam. You may be able to ask for some compensation for the downtime but good luck!

You could get a backup Data SIM. Keepgo uses both TMobile and AT&T towers in the US. Not sure if they fall back or prefer one over the other. You can get an esim from them and only use it in emergencies.

Just an idea. But I don't think there's any conspiracy against non Google devices. Just wait it out, use Wifi, or change services.

I believe the answer is just use the Tor Browser Android app for Tor things rather than setting up elaborate routings.

        • Color correction does not turn off on the Pixel 6a without workarounds. If I reset the phone, or turn on night light or extra dim it will turn off.

Color correction works without issue on my 7a. It seems to be a device specific bug. Does anyone have any insights?

          Any insights would be appreciated!
