Bluetooth > Connection preferences: Printing service, and Cast.

I guess the printing and casting services will still run even on Airplane mode?

These are disabled by default on GrapheneOS and clearly explained in the settings. Enabling them allows apps you've granted the Location permission to scan for nearby Bluetooth and/or Wi-Fi devices when Bluetooth and/or Wi-Fi are otherwise disabled.

Airplane mode disables the cellular radio. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and GNSS can still be used with airplane mode enabled. Airplane mode disables Wi-Fi and Bluetooth by default but you can re-enable them and it remembers you did that.

treequell Is there any way to get rid of this permanently? To brick the baseband or smth like that? And hoe to prevent IMEI being send on first boot? How is it possible?

[deleted] They're explaining that the purpose of airplane mode is disabling the cellular radio. Disabling the SIM does not disable the cellular radio. Disabling the cellular radio does not disable the SIM. These are different things. You can use a carrier via Wi-Fi calling/texting and you can use cellular without a carrier for emergency calls/alerts.

If you have some reason to be worried about what may be emitted to the cell network on first boot the solution is to have the phone somewhere without cell reception when doing that.

To my knowledge there has never been a demonstration of airplane mode not acting as expected. Its very easy to make claims. Harder to prove or disprove them.

avidgrapher The toggles for the radios work properly. Airplane mode disables the cellular radio and is essentially the toggle for it. GNSS is receive-only so you're misunderstanding that.

Nobody has ever conclusively shown that airplane mode does not work. It would be relatively simple to do this using suitable equipment.

If for some reason you feel you really need a device without cellular baseband you could get a Pixel tablet

Carlos-Anso Airplane mode is not real security its a software switch. Basic human error or exploitation could disable it. Well nobody has shown that is correct but there are people out there that do know how to achive it. Pixel tablet is just to unhandy
