Error message when attempting to unlock bootloader

I'm attempting to reinstall GrapheneOS on a Pixel 6a. The device already has GrapheneOS, but the device seems to have become corrupted, so I'd like to reinstall the OS from scratch. I'm on Debian Linux, with the Chromium browser.

I've enabled Developer Mode and USB Debugging. However, when I attempt to unlock the bootloader via the web installer, I get the error message: "Error: Failed to execute 'requestDevice' on 'USB': No device selected."

I found this post, which suggested a factory reset, but that didn't help.

Your device is corrupt. It can't be trusted and may not work properly.

This seems to be a USB connectivity issue. Are you using the stock cable? Make sure to not use any USB hubs and if you are on a desktop, then plug the cable directly into the back USB ports. Perhaps you denied access to USB in the browser UI?

Have you installed android-sdk-platform-tools-common?
Do you have fwupd running? Check by executing this command systemctl status fwupd in your terminal.
If it is running, you should stop it: sudo systemctl stop fwupd.service

EDIT: bkgrrl00 were you by chance doing a systems update?

I mean that the OS settings were different from the ones that I had selected, as though someone else had taken over my device

Something doesn't sound quite right... Unless I'm misunderstanding something, there's no OEM unlocking section in Fastboot.

If you're trying to flash GrapheneOS again, then you should first enable OEM unlocking here: Settings > System > Developer options > OEM unlocking.

After that's enabled, restart the phone and while it's booting up press and hold the volume down button then the power button, and hold both until you see a red triangle and "Fastboot Mode". From there, you should plug your phone in and be able to click the "Unlock bootloader" button in the web installer: https://grapheneos.org/install/web#unlocking-the-bootloader
