Massive battery drain during night

Hi,

Since the last few days, I am experiencing a massive battery drain (60% to 7%) during nights. The battery statistics show that 98-99% battery usage is System Apps of which 70% is CPU. This was not a normal just a few days ago. I thought this was an issue with the nextcloud client, so I uninstalled it yesterday, but experienced the same battery drain. Can someone help me diagnose this?

addy419 Some initial things to try:

Reboot your phone
Reboot your Wi-Fi access point
Turn off all radios overnight (cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth)

de0u I have rebooted my phone thrice in the last few days. As for the other things, I want to emphasize again that this has been occuring since last week. I have been using my phone and grapheneos since January with the same settings.

Edit: I am comfortable with using linux, cli and adb. I'd appreciate help in debugging this through any external or internal means.

I used adb shell to check what was using the most of my CPU, and it seems it was processes that were trying to provision VoLTE (without success). This wasn't present a few months ago, but I think the carrier may have activated something on their side that made these processes try continually to configure VoLTE.
I disabled VoLTE (which wasn't working anyway) and no more high CPU usage and battery drain.

I have a 7a and was experiencing abnormally high battery usage as well while running 20231105 (with airplane mode on and wifi w/ Wifi calling on). It seems after upgrading to the latest 20231129 update things have improved a lot. I'm still testing, but so far it seems to be a lot better.

I spoke too soon. Last night battery dropped ₃₀% in 6 hours with "Mobile network" consuming everything (while on airplane mode w/ wifi). What's weird is that yesterday after I installed 20231129, battery use was great and there was no "Mobile network" usage. It's like something happened before bed (the only thing I did was charge the phone) to cause this issue to reoccur. I looked at the process list and top this morning with adb and also watched the logs, but I didn't see anything jumping out at me as being the issue. I'm not sure what "Mobile network" is for, especially since I'm on airplane mode, but it seems to be the issue.

Same problem here. Phone had randomly shut down/rebooted overnight. Also after booting it back up, I got a notification saying phone shut down due to overheating. Never had this problem before.

Tested a bit with AccuBattery and found that the phone did not go into deep sleep at all in the night.

addy419 i had similar in the past, accubattery stating it was in deep sleep for 1% of the time. i did not find out why how ..

Do you have Google Play Services installed? I had a similar issue and in my case, I was able to fix it by uninstalling Play Services and reinstalling it from the GrapheneOS Apps. Since then I have been sticking to the version that the Apps display as the available one (not allowing Play Services to update from the Play Store) and battery life has been back to normal. Maybe worth a try?
