So I get 5G in its infancy was rolled out quickly by cell providers for its speed and they were not too quick to get its full security and privacy potential implemented. From what I have read up on, 5G is better than LTE for security and privacy *when fully implemented with better protection from IMSI Catchers/Stingrays and more robust network encryption plus other nice features.
So I pulled out a cell tower mapping website for my area (big city metro) and it is covered really well with "standalone" 5G, with SA towers indicating the towers do not rely on LTE at all (as opposed to "non-standalone" 5G or NSA, which combine with LTE). Thus they are advanced 5G tech. My carrier literature does not talk about security and privacy, but states calls and texts go over 5G only with a SA tower and that you get better battery life. I also get a "5G+" on the upper right of phone. Not sure if the plus means anything or not.
Any thoughts on using 5G instead of LTE Only given what I have described? I don't use my cell network often, but 5G speeds would be nice when I do.
