Best keyboard for GrapheneOS??

Hello,
I see the discussions about the Keyboard often and it seems to be an important feature for a lot of people. Can anyone tell me what am I missing when using the default Keyboard?
The only downside I am seeing compared to iPhone Keyboard, that it does not remember some specific non standard words I use in my dialect.

maximus87 That's off by default for privacy reasons, you can turn it on in settings. You can also manually add words to make it stop auto correcting them.

treequell last update was june 2022, no word prediction, no autocorrect. so basically its not usable in its current state

the default keyboard has very few "secondary" (press and hold) functions. Other keyboards offer much better shortcuts in this regard. You don't have to switch pages constantly to get to non-letter characters. Its kind of a big deal in practice.

I enjoy using the Blackberry Keyboard. A patched version which works on non-Blackberry android devices can be found on Crackberry.

So do I - it will never get any more updates but I like the flick word up feature and the prediction engine.

I like the Graphene keyboard but would take a dedicated number row and don't see that option.

Most things that are able to transmit a GIF have the ability to attach a file/image. Nextcloud talk, for instance, hit the paperclip button, then "upload from device" and pick a GIF.

lemonadehabitat Why shouldn't be disabling network permissions not be enough? The app is sandboxed anyway.

Stewart Especially the speech to text ability. I use it in my messenger, as some people don't wanna get voice messages and I'm too lazy to type long texts.

AtriumCompound I can't find it right now but there was a research paper posted in this forum about data collection from popular keyboard apps. Gboard was found to create logs containing information like the length of typed words and how fast they were typed. These logs were then picked up by Google Play Services and sent to Google for analysis. So disabling network permissions is not enough. But the same article also claimed that opting-out in the Gboard privacy settings prevented these logs from being collected.
