How to remove wifi network shared by QR code app in other profile?

Recently, I am testing some Wifi hotspot, so using QR code to get the password is convenient. The problem is now the wifi network cannot be deleted in the network setting. After some internet searching mentioned to do a "Reset Network" on system setting app. I was doing just that, but found out the problem is the network is within another profile, and the "Reset Network" does not clean the network setting in another profile, and a profile account has no permission to remove the network. Now I am stuck.

The nuclear option would be removing the profile but it was time consuming to restore considering the SeedVault app does not always worked and GrapheneOS has low priority to create a new backup app. Am I out of option?

Have you tried logging into your owner profile and removing it there? we have that profile for a reason :) i haven't had that problem myself but seems logical youll be able to remove it there considering only tethering and stuff can be enabled from inside that profile too.

EmLeX932 If it was not obvious, the "Reset Network" is a partial factory option only available to owner profile. So, no, the owner profile cannot remove the saved network in other profile by a QR code app. That data was stuck in that profile and no account has permission to remove it, unless the profile itself is removed.

A network reset can be done from any profile infact (its basically like rebooting your modems without rebooting phone). Owner can also has a Reset Wifi and Bluetooth. or the network settings fully, you can get there by going SYSTEM > Reset options.. but that seems extreme for one wifi

Just to test I added a network from qr code in a profile and was not able to delete it in any secondary profile including the one that added it

However if i login to owner profile and go SYSTEM > Network & Internet > Internet > Saved Networks. find the network i dont want click it and hit forget. And its gone even after reboots and simple network resets. are this not what you are trying to do?. If that does not work it sounds like you have a bigger bug on your hands.

EmLeX932 Actually I have found the solution.

I have tested with another profile again but the result is the same, it does not appear in "Saved Network", and in fact the same also applied to Owner profile. And it even persists after uninstalling the QR code app.

Step to reproduce:

Use a third party app called Binary Eye in Fdroid to register Wifi Network.
Network will appear in Setting app with description "Available via Binary Eye".

To remove the network:

Go to Apps > Special app access > Wi-Fi control
Revoke the Wi-Fi control permission of the QR code app.

After that, the Network was gone, and it works on all profile.

Glad you found the solution. I did not use an app myself so that's probably where the differing views came from, i prefer to do what i can nativly in the os. and adding networks by QR is possible

Just for information. you can add networks from QR codes nativly in the OS on any profile by going to SYSTEM > Network & Internet > Internet > and there is a add network button under the found wifi points. if you click it there is a QR icon next to the box to enter the WiFi name :)

Networks added native can only be removed in owner profile from my experience no matter what profile you add them in. i think its a safety feature.

As for the app. I wonder if it would keep doing that if you did not log into the secondary profile after a restart and tried. seems like it took control over your WiFi settings.

EmLeX932 Thanks for your help and your tips to scan network by QR natively. Ancient Android does not have this ability natively, and old habit sticks. :)

As for the permission, it seems that this permission have so much power, and I have to think twice to give that to an app. And I actually find one of my banking app has this permission. I guess this permission can be very privacy invasive and I need to remove that to all proprietary app.
