Auto wifi/mobile data toggle solutions?

I am looking for a solution to automate toggling my wifi on and mobile data off at known points and doing the inverse when I leave the vicinity of wifi. I am ok with not having service for a few minutes while switching over. I want to do this to minimize the data my carrier has on my stagnant locations home/work ect while also being protected from always having my wifi on and connecting to a man in the middle device.

I am currently playing with the Easer app to attempt to do this but currently I am having no luck getting it to work properly. Does anyone have a solution they use they could share?

panopticon unfortunately there is no solution to your problem.

Let me first re-phrase your problem.
You want to make sure that your carrier does not know your location, while also providing you with the service.

The answer is:
Your carrier must know your location to be able to provide you with the service.

Here when I am saying "location", I am not referring to your phone's "Location" permission.
The towers that provide you with the carrier service can always estimate your approximate location, which you might have heard as "triangulation".
That is simply how carrier services work and there is no other way.

Hulk Yes, but can the carrier triangulate my position when I have my sim card in but mobile data toggled off? My thought was no, but I honestly don't know. I am attempting to only be triangulated when I am away from wifi and switch on my mobile data. That way my carrier will see areas I move around in but wont see me staying in a stationary spot all night (home) or most of the day (work). I am thinking of setting wifi to turn itself off after 10 minutes of not being connected which would be the trigger for Easer to turn my mobile data on that way I could be a little ways away from my wifi locations.

panopticon Mobile Data toggle has nothing to do with that. Your phone is always talking to towers (unless you turn Airplane mode on).

panopticon a SIM card is only needed to identify and authenticate you as a subscriber. A SIM card itself makes no connections to the towers, the phone does.

Your phone can make emergency calls and receive emergency alerts without a SIM card.

If you want your phone to stop connecting to towers, you need to turn Airplane mode on.

Hulk Thanks for being patient with my ignorance and thanks for linking that article! I didnt realize airplane mode could be used to block the cell tower connection and then allow wifi while still on. Seems I am looking to automate turning on airplane mode and at specific locations along with wifi. Then once wifi is dropped turn off airplane mode after a certain time period has elapsed. I'm going to see if I can get Easer to do this for me unless you have better solution.

I was thinking I could toggle off airplane mode once my phone sensed movement exceeding 50mph for a certain time as I would be presumably be on a section of highway at that point and would be least susceptible to giving pertinent location info to the cell towers. However it seems the ability to toggle airplane mode cannot be toggled without root. So I'm left to the imperfect method of just remembering to enable and disable airplane mode at key points along my route.
