AloofChocolate Currently does not support Opera, Brave, Vivaldi and Microsoft Edge (Chromium). Supposedly in next update/release. Doubt it will bother with Vanadium unless someone has tried it and it somehow works. Lot of complaints in its Chrome extension reviews that users lost all bookmarks that were not on Google Chrome but other another chromium browser. All bookmarks lost.

There's something of a crippled feeling to Chrome-based browsers on Android. The inability to export bookmarks and install browser extensions are frustrations.

de0u It is an independent app for both any android and desktop and sync your bookmarks across the network between all devices. just set up the app and let the app import your bookmarks, once complete just click on any bookmark link in the app, and it will open the default browser.

But does it work for Vanadium? Repeated postings about it in this forum which do not address that question might be perceived as counterproductive.

So... does it work for Vanadium on GrapheneOS?

Yeah, the situation with the Vanadium bookmarks is becoming ridiculous. On the one hand we are told: "Don't use Gecko based browsers" or "Bromite is always a few versions behind (which it is)" , "Use Vanadium!"
On the other hand Vanadium has been without Bookmarks Import/Export for years. When you complain about it, you are told that developer time and resources are limited (which I totally understand). But then when you suggest they adopt a patch from Bromite - the code quality is not good, we are told.
It just puzzles me that this is not seen as a bigger priority, every other browser out there has some sort of Bookmarks management.

I am about to take a different approach and don't store my bookmarks in the browser. Instead I will share my links to Quillnote (https://github.com/msoultanidis/quillnote) which supports backup and access them there.

AlanZ those who want things done seek solutions, not excuses. To access bookmarks in Vanadium you need root access which can not be done with a regular 3rd party app and which I believe is not a focus of GrapheneOS developers so I think my intended approach is valid and while you will keep complaining, I will breeze through life. Building new habits may not be easy but once they are established it gets better.

AlanZ do you back up your bookmarks every day? It is also handy for some to keep them in nice order ready for export and not only in relation to the default browser. Are you not happy with it? Use another with all the bells and whistles and a pile of addons to your liking. I prefer using default apps for the benefit of reducing attack surface despite some shortcomings, and for all use cases I have a workaround. Does me well. You keep complaining my friend, perhaps one day, just for you, they will go out of their way to scratch your itch.

Switched to the Mull browser. Problem solved. Now I only need to move about 8,000 Bookmarks : \
Can't wait forever for Vanadium to incorporate basic functionality.

I decided to switch to a separate bookmarks manager and pull mine out of my various browsers (on GOS and my Linux PCs).

I activated the Bookmarks app on my self-hosted Nextcloud and installed Floccus on my GOS pixel.

Now, all of my bookmarks automatically sync and best of all, I store and control them.

On my pixel I set Vanadium as the default browser. So I just select a link from my bookmarks manager and off I go.
