I go back and forth between the GOS default phone and Google's phone. In general I try not to use 'anything google'. However I do believe that Google's phone does a much better job with spam. Now with this clear calling - that's a big plus. (does it work on BT)

I did spend some time in Japan around 1999, still remember I called a friend asking where she was and didn't believe her telling me she was driving in her car at that moment.
Compared with what I was used to hear in a mobile conversation Japan was far in front of that by killing the background noises.

Will clear calling work without the network permission? That way I'm sure no data is leaking. Calling should still work fine.

nvm. I just installed the google phone app, and the clear calling option won't even show up. Sad

I have playservices installed and I don't see this option under sound and vibration. Does anyone got it to work?

Would be awesome if Graphene would support Clear Calling in future.
I tried installing the Google Phone app and Sandboxed Play Services, but the option in Android settings is completely missing.

@GrapheneOS if supported the "Clear Calling" feature can be enabled in settings:

Probably Clear Calling could be supported someday in future with Sandboxed Play Services? Who knows, I pray for it :)

Bumping this thread, since Clear Calling is urgently missed by me in GrapheneOS.
Really hope it can be added in 2025 to GrapheneOS, it's the only feature which made the switch hard for me.

Clear Calling filters out unwanted noise perfectly on Stock Android.
For example in office or when a TV is running in background - The called person hears nothing of these background noises.

Bumping this thread to ask for any interest integrating Clear Calling into GrapheneOS.

Many Google features are already compatible thanks to Sandboxed Play Services, Clear Calling would be a real benefit for GrapheneOS in my point of view. It isolates annoying background noises during calls and would improve user experience.

It sounds as if there is further interest in Issue #4021.

Please note that while it's fine to subscribe to a GitHub issue, and/or to use the reaction emoji, the developers have requested that users not add comments of the form "I want this too!", "Is there an update on this?", etc., because they want the issue tracker to be used for reporting symptoms/data/logs and also for pull requests. Issues that attract non-productive comments may be locked.

Because this issue has been open with no tags for some time, I don't expect there will be motion in the near future. My hunch would be that this is unlikely to happen for at least a year, and it may never happen.

It is possible that some third-party dialer apps might support background noise reduction.

Bumping this.

This feature is available on all Google Pixel Stock Firmware devices starting with Pixel 7 and dramatically improves call quality in noisy environment.

With the latest build (2025111800) this feature is missing on my Pixel 8 - but also wasn't available on older builds.

Really hope some day that GOS supports Clear Calling in a future release.
Filtering out background noises is really useful, Stock Pixel and iOS have this feature integrated since years.
Really happy with GOS, but this feature is much missed compared to my previous phones.

I reverse-engineered which service is required for clear calling on Pixel 10 Stock Android.
Following service is the only dependency, with it enabled Clear Calling is shown up in settings.
com.google.android.apps.pixel.dcservice

All other AI based apps were disabled and are not mandatory for clear calling (I'm striking them through because not required):
com.google.android.apps.bard
com.google.android.aicore
com.google.android.apps.pixel.psi
com.google.android.as
com.google.android.as.oss

Would be great if this helps to further implement Clear Calling in GOS.
