To make or receive audio/video calls on WhatsApp, WhatsApp requires the Phone permission. I'm not certain about all the information an app can see with the Phone permission, but I'm assuming it's best to avoid granting that permission. I'm guessing this permission gives WhatsApp access to device phone numbers and other identifiers.
I see that I can create a new user profile for WhatsApp and leave the "Turn on phone calls & SMS" toggle disabled. If I do that and then grant WhatsApp the Phone permission in that profile, what information can WhatsApp see? For example, can WhatsApp see the device/SIM phone number?
Is there a better way to proceed here while minimizing the information shared with the app?
