Can't change the default keyboard

Hello everyone,

As I was resetting my Pixel 6A device to factory settings in order to deal with this problem (https://discuss.grapheneos.org/d/1483-incoming-call-not-displaying) I stumbled upon a new problem once the resetting was complete.

Now I can't install another keyboard like before. Usually I'd follow the steps:

Settings ➔ System ➔ Languages & input ➔ On-screen keyboard ➔ GrapheneOS Keyboard

But "Languages & input" no longer exists. The "Keyboard" setting has the stardard Android AOSP keyboard set as default but I can't add another nor remove the AOSP keyboard. Any ideas how to solve this problem?

I'm using the new 2023100800 release btw.

Elvira look in the system again, it's there as a separate Keyboard item

Searching " keyboard " in setting brings me to the keyboard selection setting .

OP is right. There's a separate keyboard listing in Settings since 14, but you can't add another Keyboard from it for some reason. I'm not sure how it was before.

I was able to add another keyboard but I already had a 3rd party keyboard installed .

Skyway Maybe that's what it is. OP doesn't have anything installed yet so no user setting is being exposed.

[deleted] I have a device with no 3rd party keyboard installed and was able to install and use florisboard . you can't disable keyboard until there is another keyboard option .

You were right; I tried downloading the Florisboard and it worked - I was finally able to switch to another keyboard! I also know now why I couldn't make it work with my former keyboard app:

I tried yet again to download/install the keyboard/language app I've been using for years (From F-Droid) but it wouldn't work on the new 2023100800 release. Turns out that what I had downloaded instead was a language pack that used to include the AnySoftKeyboard keyboard as well. But I think they've divided the two because the instructions in the app info now said to make sure to download and install the AnySoftKeyboard keyboard as well in order for the language pack to work.

I should have paid more attention then none of this would have been an issue to begin with - sorry for the inconvenience and confusion on my part, guys!
