Having some issues with USB and NFC (is it supported?) using latest version of GOS.

  • Connecting an USB-C Drive, works
  • Connecting a USB-A drive using a USB-A-to-USB-C adapter does not work, it doesn't mount the drive, but it kinda detects something (i.e. the USB controlled by settings gets enabled). Same drive works without any problem in a Pixel 7

It may be still be a faulty USB-A-to-USB-C adapter, but when I try connect a USB-C yubikey 5, it doesn't detects it.

Then I wanted to enable NFC (to use the yubikey with KeepassDX+KeyDriver) but there are not NFC settings in Connection preferences, is NFC even supported in the Pixel Tables?

Anybody else experiencing similar problems?

Wondering if I may have hardware problems.

Aha! I figure it out the USB issue: it doesn't work when the table it on its dock (i.e. the bundled dock/speaker). When I took it off, both the USB-A-through-USB-A-to-USB-C-adapter drive and the yubikey work.

Is this a known issue? known issue: https://discuss.grapheneos.org/d/6819-tablet-usb-peripherals-and-dock

Still haven't figured out the NFC thing, but happy that I can get yubikey working.

aleksm Thanks for reporting back! The information may well help other users.

@aleksm The dock uses a USB connection and it doesn't support another one at the same time. It's an unfortunate limitation of the hardware.

aleksm I wasn't aware that the YubiKey 5C (without NFC, if I'm reading the post correctly?) works. I was going to make a new thread about my experiences with the Pixel Tablet, regarding how I haven't really used the device because I had initially thought KeePassDX wouldn't work with USB OTG connections due to this Key Driver issue on smartphones with NFC.

Since Pixel Tablet has no NFC (as Pixel Tablet is Wi-Fi only and thus wouldn't be able to use NFC to make contactless payments "in the real world"), hopefully I can start using my YubiKey 5C again to unlock KeePassDX on Pixel Tablet.

I also discovered the Pixel Tablet stand can only charge, if I use Ethernet (via the USB OTG adapter from my prior Pixel phones; USB-C male and USB-A female, with USB-A male and Ethernet female).
