I recently read a post on https://privacytools.io/guides/phone-and-laptop-seizures-at-airports-and-borders
It talked about how governments around the world if you travel can take your phone and copy all the data and store it and just read everything and if you deny they can even put you in jail.
So they recommend you make a backup of your phone whenever you are going to go to cross a border or chance of getting your phone searched. And when you are in a safe area you can restore that backup or just restore some of those apps that you need to use while traveling.
Now comes to the problem.
The default backup feature on grapheneos doesn't let you backup all apps and their data. I've heard that it isn't graphene os itself choosing you not to be able to backup all apps. But AOSP itself having option for certain apps to opt out of being able to be backed up by asop backup.
So the problem with using the default backup and restore option in grapheneos is it only backs up most apps not all.
So I guess I would like the communities advice on if there is any quicker way to restore and backup the phone and apps and their data for all apps when crossing borders. And also if you should even cross borders with grapheneos or if it might be illegal and you could get arrested under suspected for using it in certain countries you visit.
I assume the general answer will be use the grapheneos backup feature and backup it to a next cloud server and just lose all your local bookmarks and data in apps that don't allow data backup.
But I am just asking here to know if there's anymore I can to than that so the process of resetting and restoreing is as quick and easy as clicking a few buttons and waiting some time and the phone is exactly set up the way it was before the border cross.
