JMP.Chat SIM data only card not working

I have a Pixel 6a with Graphene OS and the JMP.Chat VOIP service with the Cheogram XMPP app. I also have been using Mullvad Wireguard VPN with my phone calls. I have never had a problem. I now am trying to use the JMP.Chat SIM data only card and it's not working. I did have a US Mobile data only SIM card that worked fine. I was able to get the JMP.Chat SIM to work temporarily by turning off my VPN completely and then turning it back on, but that may have been a coincidence. The SIM card stopped working after awhile. I uninstalled the VPN completely and the SIM still will not work. I am typing this from a Pixel 4a with the JMP.Chat SIM over 4G that has another Android privacy oriented OS with the bootloader locked as well with Mullvad VPN and it's working. I checked APN, etc. and the configuration is the same between both phones. Is someone using JMP.Chat SIM and Graphene OS and a VPN with no problems? What else can I check?

Thanks for the reply. I finally had some time to look at the phone again. I reflashed the Pixel 6a with the Google Android 13 image for "T-Mobile" which seems to be what my JMP.Chat SIM uses the most. Before, I had flashed it with the default image. I had to flash GrapheneOS on my phone with the command line in Ubuntu since no other method would work. The flash process paused periodically several times with a message that it was waiting for a device. All I could do was unplug my phone and then plug it back in for the process to continue at each pause. After I locked the bootloader and restarted, my JMP.Chat physical SIM started working again. There are no problems. I never determined the original cause of my problem, but am just happy to get GrapheneOS back on my phone.
