Vanadium Needed to Authenticate Apps?

I installed the Brave Browser and disabled Vanadium since I wasn't planning to use it, and had issues logging into some apps that run a Browser. It included the Xfinity App and the Chick-Fil-A app, and once I re-enabled Vanadium and made it the default, it posted back or whatever it needed to do in the App just fine to log me into my accounts on those apps.

Is this expected or does Brave shields or something else mess with the settings?

Vanadium provides the custom tabs that a lot of apps use for things like logins. I don't think it's possible to replace Vanadium with anything else for custom tabs. There's no reason to disable it anyway, since it's part of the GrapheneOS project and can be trusted the same as the OS.

nodsocket gotcha, didn't think about it disabling the web view and that affecting apps. Makes sense and I have no problem leaving it enabled but had just disabled it because I didn't think I needed it. Thanks.

Vanadium provides 3 different apps: browser, WebView and library. The browser and WebView both depend on the library. If you have another browser installed in the profile, disabling the browser won't break anything.

andrewteg Disabling the Vanadium WebView or library is broken. Disabling the browser is only broken if you don't have another browser installed in the profile providing the required interfaces for other apps.
