Safe to Disable Auto-Sync App Data?

Hello, I noticed the "Automatically sync app data" toggle in the "Passwords & accounts" settings today. I find its 5-word description kind of vague, does it only sync app data with online accounts or is there some other unmentioned functionality to it?

I don't have a Google account and I never use this sort of online-syncing feature. Will disabling this toggle have any impact whatsoever on my usage of the phone?

ironwindow I assumed that was to let them schedule automatic syncing on their own for the domains they are controlling. Alternative would be to manually trigger a sync every time you want it. Imagine creating a calendar event but not have it auto synced to server, and you have to trigger sync manually every single time. Hard to know if new events are ready to be pulled from server to the phone without auto sync.

Hmm, but I don't really do any sort of syncing with websites or personal servers. If that's really all it does, I guess it's safe to say that I can disable it.

ironwindow It's for "all" accounts you have created. Not like for this forum, but for services.

WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, DAVx5 (a synchronization app to synchronize CalDAV/CardDAV collections with Android devices) will all create accounts under 'Passwords & accounts'.
It's part of AOSP Account Manager. Here's a good explanation from @treequell.
