PDF Viewer?

Is there a way to view PDFs? Any time I need to view a PDF the "Open File Preview" button is unresponsive. There is documentation of a PDF viewer on GitHub but when I try to download the APK it prompts me to update instead of install a new app. However, if I click update it says no suck app exists. Anyone else encountering this?

Cedaronbelay have you checked to see if its disabled ? If you make a new profile is the app available in new profile ?

i'm assuming this is in your main profile? i would start by going to settings -> apps -> see all apps and checking to confirm PDF Viewer is listed there and does not say disabled.

sidenote, what launcher do you use? it may play a role.

Cedaronbelay come on dude, you're the one with attitude here. op clearly describes that the system says it's installed but cannot access it. what does sending them to the one paragraph blurb do to help them?

GrapheneOS already comes with a PDF Viewer that is installed. It's updated through the Apps repository. More information can be found here: https://grapheneos.org/features#grapheneos-pdf-viewer.

I was providing them with more information in regards to the GrapheneOS PDF VIewer app in case they had not read through the GrapheneOS website. For all I know, they may have fiddled with some settings and accidentally messed something up and maybe that part of the website could be of some use to them. I apologize that my original response to them was not of your satisfaction.

Thank you for all the helpful replies and I apologize for any misinterpreted negative attitude. I updated to the latest release and the PDF Viewer reappeared in the app drawer, so problem 1 has solved itself. My new issue is opening PDF's from Standard Notes. I can only view files that are downloaded into the files app, the preview feature does not work. Any suggestions for setting the app protocol to automatically open in PDF viewer? I can't find any such option in permissions

I don't have a solution, but I can share that Standard Notes tends to struggle with basic functionality regarding files in their Android app.

Until I flagged it, files weren't even downloadable from the SN android app on GOS (!).

If no one can help you here, I would recommend reaching out to SN directly for support. Thankfully they are quite kind and responsive and able to fix things eventually.

glad to hear one issue resolved! for the new one, i want to clarify - are you saying currently PDFs automatically open in standard notes instead of the pdf viewer? or are you attempting to open PDFs that are stored in standard notes using pdf viewer?

Cedaronbelay I think its's because PDF Viewer by GrapheneOS doesn't support loading PDFs from internet for preview

Can you add the option that stores the open document page? every time I open a pdf, it does not return to the page where I arrived.

[deleted] Feature requests for GrapheneOS apps such as the PDF Viewer should be made in their own issue tracker on GitHub, not here on Forum.

Make sure you check first whether the feature request already exists, as this saves everybody time.

[deleted] YES! This .pdf viewer is annoying in that way. Also, it would be VERY helpful if one could swipe or tap a side to advance pages. There is just the little < or > at the top. This app does not work well for manuals & books. It's fine for a short .pdf file that just has a few pages. I haven't wanted to go away from "stock" on this as I trust GoS devs to get it right. I haven't made a 'request' myself, thinking they have plenty else to do. But these small changes would markedly enhance usability, particularly for those of us also using tablets.
