Is my GOS compromised?

There are a number of reasons why your phone could restart unexpectedly. It could range from being an issue with a particular app you have installed to even a hardware with your device. If you notice an unexpected restart happening again, enable developer options and generate a bug report immediately afterwards.

You can then ask here to share the bug report with a trusted member of the GrapheneOS development team. Better not to post the bug report publicly as it can contain PII.

As I say, there are many reasons why this could occur, and most of them don't have anything to do with your device being compromised. That said, you can always verify the integrity of your device and the OS by performing verification with the Auditor app for additional piece of mind.

That is the security patch level. For the latest release, you want the full build number, which is currently TQ3A.230705.001.2023072600 on all supported devices.

Ok, after a 2nd manual restart from me, tapping "Check for updates" shows "Device is up-to-date". So I suspected I was confusing the number TQ3A.230705.001 showing in the drop-down menu with the update version. So to double-check, I looked up Settings > About phone > Android version:

Not it may seem probable that the restart was caused by the system update, but I still suspect it's not the case. Firstly as I said, I didn't get any post-update notifications (E.g: No "optimizing apps", and no "update was successful"). 2ndly GOS doesn't force auto-updates (does it?). i.e: I didn't get a the notification for "restart to update" and never clicked it. The phone restarted by itself TOUCHLESS. And if for some reason GOS decided to force updates on me, shouldn't it be a forced updates 10 days ago at 2023-07-23?

avidgrapher It doesn't sound like the device restarted because of system update. Unexpected restarts from some kind of system crash can occur, as I described above.

I generated the bug report and it's big. What keywords to use to find what caused the restart?

avidgrapher Check that the timestamps in the bug report go far enough back to cover the restart. The logs cover only a relatively limited time prior to the generation of the bug report.

The timestamps timings are strange. They're neither in UTC nor in my local timezone. But I gathered some interesting logs.

If any GrapheneOS developer is willing to look into my issue, I can share more details through Matrix.

Same thing happened with me on pixel 6a around 2 days ago. First I thought it happened due to auto reboot. But auto reboot was set on 72 hrs.
I think it is due to cheap component used by google on "a" series or due to a bug.
