My phone was idle on my desk for more than 3 hours now, then suddenly it restarted for no reason at all. At first I suspected it an automatic update from GOS, but I checked the version and it's TQ3A.230705.001 which made me worry more.
I didn't install any apps lately (in fact I try to minimize apps as much as possible), and no automatic updates of any sort are enabled. The phone was not stressed by CPU load, nor cold or heat. My phone charge was 91% when this happened. The phone has one sim card connected to a cell tower with mid level connection.
After the restart, I didn't get any system notifications (except Google Play notifications that happen on every restart). Now I'm trying to manually check for updates to get to latest version, but it's not working (update notification shows up then disappears). Here are the settings in "System update" settings:
- Release channel: stable
- Permitted networks: unmetered. (the network I'm connected to is set as unmetered)
- Require battery above warning level: disabled
- Automatic reboot: disabled.
- Notifications
These settings have been like this before the restart. I also tried connecting to a VPN in case the update is not received because of some network firewall or ban. (not sure if GOS is designed to circumvent VPN connections though)
What can I do to investigate the cause of the restart? and how can I manually update my phone if updater is not working?
