  • Graphene Phone as my new desktop ? Adding Monitor/mouse/keyboard

Hi to all,

I would like to use one of my graphene phones as an alternative to my desktop for the following tasks:

  • web browsing
  • downloading/reading documents (mainly pdfs, epubs)
  • emailing
  • watching videos (no need for high quality)

Basically my setup would look like this:

--> Do you know if there are any compatibility issues I should look for when buying a monitor/keyboard to use with a pixel phone ?
--> In terms of cable management. I would prefer NOT to use a usb/hub for security reasons and instead connect throught ethernet using multi-adapters such as "eth-to-vga+ps/2" is this feasible, has anyone tried ?

Really excited about this. Could you give feedback if it works ?

A few thoughts though:

  • Is this to use on a daily basis for long hours ?
  • I know our phones are made to be functional 24/7 nowadays, and you specified you would not use it for computationally intensive tasks. My concern is mainly for web browsing if you do what we all do which is have an average of 50-100 tabs open...
  • Would your monitor be touchscreen ?

I don't know if you heard of "lapdocks" which could come in handy as well.

The question I have in terms of compatibility is if GrapheneOS is recognised as a regular Android by a monitor. In which case you only need to make sure your monitor or lapdock is "Android Compatible".

It says you need to install DisplayLink Presenter app.
Is it compatible with GrapheneOS ? If not are there alternatives ? Or can it work without an app ?

    Hmm, seems like DisplayLink is not compatible with my LG 4K monitor. At least I can't get it to work with my P6 GOS.

    Guess I have to wait for a tablet with GOS on it until I can replace my M1 MBA.
