Hello everyone,
I have tried my best to transfer my media to GOS. I have had immense difficulty. I have tried to transfer my data using the android transfer (USB) application onto my device (Mac), from there on to GOS. The media's dates are not accurate as they are presented as the day of the transfer. Is there any method that can be done to circumvent this issue such as an application that I am not aware of or any other means of transfer?

I would deeply appreciate if the community would help me in this regard as I have exhausted all my means for dealing with the matter.

Thank you in advance.

Are you speaking of photos ?
From Pixel to Mac using AFT, I think that the dates appear to not be saved. Maybe if you try transferring the files instead of the folder it will saved them, idk.
I use Android File Transfer from Mac to Pixel (and in the past from Samsung to Mac) and the original dates are saved. It also depends on the app you use to see the media. Are you trying to transfer your gallery ? Aves Gallery does a great job in managing the dates. Moreover, you can recover the dates by extracting them for the title of the file.
Honestly, it is very hard to manage to save the dates.
Maybe, even if the dates are presented as the day of the transfer on your Mac, try to transfer them from your Mac to GOS anyway and maybe they will be presented the correct date. Or try to transfer them directly from your Samsung to your Pixel.
Good luck

Wouldn't connecting both devices with USB-C to USB-C data cable work? Activate file transfer on the Pixel and your Samsung should register the Pixel as a storage device, from here it's just copy paste.

I saved everything to a laptop with Samsung's Smart Switch and copied what I wanted manually from there to my pixel over USB ctrl-c ctrl-v. It didn't alter any dates.

Going from Graphene to Graphene I've also archived all my pictures in .7z format and extracted them on the new device and that process also preserved creation dates.

Hey, I have a solution for you!

Had the same problem last time i transferred and several family members had the same issue.

Install the app "Image & Video Date Fixer" by JD Android Apps. This app fixes everything for you 🙂
If you have a phone that stores the date in the filename (and in EXIF), you are good to go. If your phone however store the files in a increasing number (e.g. P1034 ... P1035 etc.), I would recommend using this app before the transfer and running it again after the transfer.

This app is incredible and it is free! But please consider donating upon download, since it saves/restores all you galleryfiles, which is a big deal. It recieves new updates on a weekly basis.

Also check out his other app "Rename & Organize with EXIF". I use it all the time to remove EXIF data from files I send to others. But it can do so much more.

Hope this helps 😊
