Hi All,

Been having an issues recently where it seems that GOS is telling apps that I'm on a metered connection.
So apps like Syncthing, which are set to only activate while on WiFi are sitting there disabled.
Pocketcast won't auto download new episodes either. They just sit there queued for download.
I've been just putting up with this as I can manually tell it to download the new episodes but I'd like to get it fixed.

I've excluded these apps from power saving and have even specically defined my WiFi network as an un-metered connection.

I think it has been happening since a recent update, but I don't know how to rollback GOS versions to verify, but it was definitely working as intended 2ish weeks ago.

Is there anything else that I can't find in the settings that may change this behaviour?

Thanks

maskedfault Downgrading is a giant security risk, as follows: if an adversary who knows how to exploit an old version of GrapheneOS can install that old version, it is possible to run the exploit and extract your data and/or install malware, perhaps even persistent malware. Thus GrapheneOS won't accept installation of an old version, and the developers don't make them available anyway.

In theory you could completely wipe your device, build an old version of GrapheneOS yourself, and install it, but it's difficult. It's probably more productive to pin down the problem and hopefully have it solved forward.

      de0u I agree.

I briefly searched around and didn't find any results on downgrading and figured it wasn't supported.

It was more from the perspective of "Did I change a setting somewhere" or "Has GrapheneOS changed" - to verify that the behaviour has changed.

Any suggestions for looking into it further?
I've double checked that the apps in question are set to Download on WiFi, and that my WiFi connection is set unmetered.

Specifying app names might cause people to chime in.

Popping your phone's Wi-Fi off and on might be interesting. Also potentially rebooting your Wi-Fi infrastructure.

Is this true on multiple Wi-Fi networks?

        Are you using a VPN?

de0u Pocketcast and Syncthing are the two apps I'm experiencing this issue with. Syncthing from F-Droid and Pocketcasts through Google Play Store.

I've only ever connected to the one WiFi network with this phone, and I've done several phone reboots and a WiFi box restart yesterday. Suppose I could try connecting off my partners hotspot or something.

Good point on the VPN. I use DuckDuckGo's App tracking protection which uses a VPN for its function.
I had previously turned it off for just the apps having the issue, but have now turned it off for all apps.
After a reboot, Syncthing and Pocketcasts are working as expected.

Curiously, I've turned the App Tracking Protection feature back on in DudkDuckGo and both apps are working as they were before...
If it was the VPN, I would have expected that to also be restarted between phone reboots?

Guess I can chalk this up as solved.
