  • Why Google Play Store have access to other apps on GrapheneOS?

If I've understood correctly, sanboxed google services are just like a regular app and they have no privileged access to my phone

So my question is : how does Google Play Store know the apps that I have in my phone? When I go to play store, i can see that snapchat is labeled as "installed" for example

Is this true for every other apps? Can they know all apps that I have in my phone?

Yes. There is a feature request about hiding apps from other apps' view but at the moment if you want to prevent an app from seeing which other apps are installed, you need to use profiles.

That would be amazing. I've longed for a feature where I can blocklist apps from Google play. Especially apps I get from other sources but also exist in the playstore (signal, element, etc).

If Google Play knows the apps on the phone, would Google also have access to user data* from apps which utilize GSF or Google Play services in that user profile?

      • (meaning not all, but whatever data those apps share with Google)
