N1b I appreciate your thoughts & had previously commented on my appreciation for all you brought to the table here, as you are on such a similar path. I have a little USB-C hub (currently using as the tablet was done in the 30% battery range & need to charge) but I had initially sought a combined stand/hub. After reading multiple reviews I just didn't see one that did everything I wanted and was a stable mount, so I split the function. Today I believe that I have found an excellent stand/hub that has everything (network cable, add'l USB-C as well as USB-C charging, as well as the usual USB & HDMI ports). The hub connected immediately, and I assume that when we actually have HDMI support within GrapheneOS, it will work as well.
I had previously commented at length on keyboards, as I am old school (alright ... JUST PLAIN OLD!) and learned to type before most of you were born. I dislike so many of the keyboards today, and have been delighted to buy a 'gaming keyboard' with "brown switches." For those like me who knew nothing about the difference in key switches, I tried a 'red' which does not have good action for me, but this Keychron 'brown' is excellent, improved by a set of O-rings attached under the keys. Again I knew NOTHING about any of this until a month ago. The keyboard has USB-C natively, although I chose one that did not have a number keypad (I do little with spreadsheets, far more writing). Keychron seems to have excellent 'budget' keyboards with true mechanical switches,
When moving about I never liked a mouse, always preferring to use the old Logitech trackball that is controlled with the R thumb. Such a device is also good for use on a small platform. So far I haven't used any such devices, just using my finger to navigate on the screen. However the inability to 'right-click' and such is noticeable. I have a very small keyboard that has a small trackball built in, but I cannot use it as well as the Logitech.
Here are a couple of prior posts that clarify my earlier thoughts:
https://discuss.grapheneos.org/d/5721-grapheneos-pixel-tablet-support-launched Actually I see that you had a post right between two that I had written addressing the keyboard, and HERE is another thread where I commented about keyboards.
Just trying to copy/paste demonstrates that I DO need some sort of 'pointing' device!
As I said before, from a standpoint of 'form factor' the Logitech bluetooth & perfectly fitted case are great, except it is BLUETOOTH which I don't want, and the key action is terrible so it slows down my typing speed. It is a nice "traveling" kit as it is securely contained & compact. There are so many such things for the Apple products (although they all seem to be BT as well) but we may have to wait a LONG TIME before we get much. Still, this is SECURE which is my priority.
Still looking for a good open source stylus-supported writing app that does NOT have a subscription fee nor cloud storage.
