where can i get more information about GOS keyboard?
do you know what is the best secure keyboard?

Thank you.

GOS keyboard doesn't have access to internet means it can not collect data. It's just a basic open AOSP keyboard.

[deleted] definitely gotta make sure you disable the usage statistics though that are on by default

Shawnn The default keyboard that comes with GrapheneOS is the best option for security because it already comes with the OS and is battle tested.

Adding a different keyboard would require you to trust a developer of that keyboard and that their keyboard isn't riddled with security vulnerabilities.

Unless you need a different keyboard for one reason or another, you should stick with the default one.

The default one that comes with Graphene is fine, however I use FlorisBoard and can vouch for it's secure and private use. Either one is okay though.

Graphene18 What basic functionality you get on the GOS keyboard that is not available on FlorisBoard? GOS keyboard was not made by GrapheneOS. It's the basic AOSP keyboard that is used on all the custom ROMS.

          SoulKeeper That's just your opinion.

There is no factual evidence that would show GBoard collecting data after opting out in the settings, and especially there is no factual evidence of Google doing something shady even without network permission.

Even with activated data collection, data is anonymized and prediction is provided by a decentralized system. I love the anti-Google hate, nothing makes sense when you look for it. Your open-source keyboards like florisboard or others are a leak if there isn't a serious team behind them.

SoulKeeper The GOS keyboard was compiled with GOS hardened compiler and uses hardened malloc. It was reviewed by experienced, trusted security geeks.

I use to use ''Simple keyboard''...

Thank's for your comments, i choose to keep GOS keyboard.

What about permissions for GOS KEYBOARD:
            "View network connections"
            "Download files without notification" ?
The keyboard is nearly perfect to use and I love it, but would like to know what don't know

[deleted] not sure where you're seeing those permissions. I just checked and the keyboard doesn't even have the network permission listed for me.

                Settings_Apps_Keyboard_Permissions_All permissions
You have to click 3 dots for "all permissions"

I don't know exactly, but out of curiosity tested it on another app that I have forbidden location access (just as an example).

This is also displayed under Permissions> not allowed> Location. If I click on all permissions, "access location in background", "access approximate location only in foreground" and "access precise location only in forground" appear as permissions for this app despite the ban.

I assume (without definding it) that under App> App Info> Permissions> 3 dots> all permissions all permissions appear that an app could hypothetically obtain if you allow it.
