Thank you for confirming. I see you've mentioned that you've turned off your VPN and custom DNS (which I assume you've set to Automatic).

Please make sure you've disabled your VPN in Android settings as well, so that traffic is not being obstructed from anywhere.

Make sure you don't have any other apps running that could be interfering with your traffic or blocking connections.

Are you using Wi-Fi or cellular data? It'd help if you tried with both so that we can get a better idea of why you're unable to connect to the release server.

Also, can you send us a screenshot of the settings in your System Updater screen?

MullVad DNS is set to automatic. I turned off Express VPN via it's on off button, I'm not sure how to turn it off in Android settings?
My home router is using MullVad DNS as well but not the VPN.

I have tried to use wifi and cellular data both. When I click the system update on cellular data nothing happens but when I use wifi I get the error message I noted above.

How do I attach a screenshot to this forum? I clicked add image and it auto generats an https code.

PublicName Hi there. I can help you with getting your system update working.

Firstly, open Settings > Network & Internet > Tap the Gear icon next to Express VPN, and then disable Always-on VPN toggle. That will disconnect you from Express VPN and also disable the toggle Block connections without VPN.

Now open Settings > System > System update, and check for updates. It will hopefully now work.

It it still can't check for updates, open Settings > Network & Internet > Private DNS, and set private DNS mode to Automatic. Then try and check for updates again.

Hopefully that will resolve your issue. Do let us know how you get on.

matchboxbananasynergy The question of Titan_M2 was the hint. If Vanadium can reach the adress it could not be a problem with dns, vpn settings. It seemed to be problem of the updater app. Glad I could help.

If you go to settings and type in search-box 'System Updater', one result should be "System Updater - App info". Please klick on this suggestion and look if the app have Network permission.

@dirksche Thanks for thinking about that. Admittedly, I would've never thought someone would've cut off the network permission from a system app, let alone the system updater app.

@PublicName I think this goes without saying, but please don't adjust permissions for system apps. They have the permissions they do for a reason.
