Has anyone tried 5 prints in all profiles to see of that works too ?
BUG: Fingerprint unlock disabled after profile change
Murcielago
What happens if you inside main profile start an app that can be configurated to use fingerprint to access app. For example bitwarden.
Does everything start to work again?

I tried two profiles with 5 prints and couldn't use finger print when switching profiles . went down to two prints and it works as it should . this is crazy .
Should repot google , maybe a bounty ?
I added more prints when my finger got disfigured must of been around that time it stopped working correctly .

It was a pleasure for me to help finding the reason for this bug.
I am very happy, that we all now have a workaround until Google or the GOS team will find a solution for the use of all fingers for all profiles.

Yes, I know, it works only if you don't end sessions of additional profiles.
Oh, no, wait, this was long time ago, when I have used two profiles until the issue began…
Have it tested right now, because you mentioned it and I was very curious if this issue is solved also…
And it works for me here on my Pixel 7 Pro!
I have selected my second profile and because it's a new session, I had to key in my password.
Then I have ended this session to go back to owner profile.
Here the fingerprint reader shoes me instantly the fingerprint symbol, not the lock symbol.
And now it works the first time I log in. :-)
Maybe you have to repeat the steps once more, until the device stores it all the right way?
Good luck!
I have just gone through the steps again and can confirm that it now works perfectly. I also tested how it behaves when some profiles have fingerprints and other passwords or PINs (also scrambled). This has also worked perfectly so far - both with switching profile and end session.
I'm really thrilled that this works - now I can finally create the profiles again the way I would actually like to - I had to adjust my setup due to the frequent entry of long passwords when switching profiles.
Eagle_Owl Hello, I always had 1 fingerprint for each profile and I have the bug. So I don't think It's a question of having the same number of fingerprints per profile.
On build 2024080600 this once again is fixed for me. No pin numbers drawn under fingerprint and the colors match the current profile. Awesome!!!

There is another use case actually.
None of the above workarounds have worked reliably across all profiles.
But something is very consistent. I can go back and forth between 2 profiles with fingerprints. As soon as I auth on a third one, the first one then ask for a PIN.
It seems you can use a fingerprint only on the last 2 profiles being used.
Context:
- 5 profiles
- no passwords, only PINs on all profiles
- 2 fingerprints/profile, the same fingers
- Gesture navigation on all profiles
- Auto-confirm unlock enabled for all profiles
- Enhanced PIN privacy enabled for all profiles
- Lock after screen timeout: 5 seconds for all profiles
- Power button instantly locks disabled for all profiles
- Phone: Pixel 8
- Android version: 15
- Build number: 2024102100
The last setting (Power button instantly locks disabled) apparently impact the locking behaviour. If enabled, putting the phone on the couch and it locks automatically and ask for the PIN again.
I also have 'Private Lock' installed but I made sure it isn't triggered, sensitivity set to 18/40.

Hi, I have had the same issue: when switching from one of my additional profiles (still open/in session) back to the owner, I could not use biometrics and always had to enter my password.
This was already the vase with the first Android 15 stable build and stayed that way regardless of updates.
However, I was able to apply the following workaround, which was already mentioned here:
My owner had 4 fingerprints, while all my profiles had 2. I removed two of the fingerprints on the owner.
After this I could use biometrics with no issues.
Latest context in which I experienced the issue:
- mixed: pin and passwd
- 2 fingerprints/profile, the same fingers (except owner: 4 fingers)
- Gesture navigation on all profiles
- Enhanced PIN privacy was disabled
- Power button instantly locks enabled for all profiles
- Phone: Pixel 8 Pro
- Android version: 15
- Build number: 2024121200
Getting the same and changing fingerprints to 2+2 seems to do the trick on a P8 with the latest updates.
What's odd though is that I had 3+1 and I believe it worked although I'm not 100% sure that I added the 3rd fingerprint of the owner profile before the last update(s). I first tried 3+3, did not work.
2+2 seems to be working.
This is weird, I'm getting the opposite. If I end the session of my secondary user, I can use fingerprint on the owner (even with > 2 fingerprints on the owner), but if I switch between both, I only can if I have 2+2.
