T9 Keyboard

Hi all,

Does anyone know if there is a way to swap the keyboard to an old-school T9 keyboard with predictive text?

One thing I miss about old-school Nokia phones, apart from insane battery life, was how quickly I could write text messages using the number pad layout. It takes me forever to type on modern touch-screen keyboards because the keys are so tiny :(

inetcat You would need to install a third-party keyboard app which supports the T9 layout.

One such keyboard app is https://github.com/sspanak/tt9. It was initially created for hardware keyboards, but it also has an on-screen keyboard in beta. It includes 17 (mostly Indo-European) languages which you can get predictive text for.

treequell Hey thank you so much for this! I had searched in the Play Store and F-droid but could only find abandoned or poorly rated software. This also led me to the IzzyOnDroid repo which I am grateful for as well!

I've installed the keyboard and it looks like exactly what I was after, will see how it goes over the next few days.

As a small aside, the first place I usually look for apps like this is GitHub. Then I install and update the app using Obtainium. It scrapes the APKs directly from GitHub. You can download the APK for Obtainium here https://github.com/ImranR98/Obtainium, it's worth a try!
