Just as a sanity check while we look into this. Is native code debugging enabled in Settings > Security. If not, please enable it and try again.

Nopesef Do you get this notification on start-up? I can't reproduce this.

I have installed it from Google Play Store and the app starts fine.

    Apps details:

    version 8.16.0 (928669)

    au.gov.nsw.service
    versionCode 958669

    targetSdk 33
    minSdk 23

The app starts fine even with Native code debugging disabled.

Nopesef Are you installing the app from Aurora Store or Google Play Store?

Have you got all 3 Google apps installed - Google Play Services, Google Play Store and Google Services Framework - and all with network permission?

Nopesef It only comes up when you click on the "login" button on the app, won't even bring up the credentials page before the error appears

Apologies, I hadn't read this part. I can reproduce this, so I am not able to login either. As @matchboxbananasynergy says, it seems they are requiring users to have a Google Certified OS.

Nopesef It is unfortunate indeed. If you press 'More info' it will take you to this screen
https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/non-standard-software which gives more details. GrapheneOS is not Google Certified in Play Protect.

The only suggestion I have really is to contact the app developers and suggest that they follow this guide instead: https://grapheneos.org/articles/attestation-compatibility-guide. It's a long shot, but might be worth a try.

matchboxbananasynergy changed the title to Service NSW not working (requires Google Certified OS) .

treequell Unfortunately we're talking about the Australian government here, they aren't gonna support people who support encryption (5 eyes my beloved)

Nopesef I'd wager it's still worth a try. You never know. You'd be helping yourself and others in your position if they do it.

              G'day All
The operating system has been update to current version, I was able to investigate, whether or not a copy of the earlier version of the application Service NSW app is also affected by the issue, and yes, it is. The older version was working, but the login screen fails, the latest version, has a network issue problem. It can't find the network, even though other apps work fine with a Wi-Fi connection. And native code debugging is enabled.

              Exploit protection compatibility mode (enable)

              version 8.14.0 (882085)

              au.gov.nsw.service
              versionCode 912085

              targetSdk 31
              minSdk 23

Dam I just updated Service NSW and have the same problem. RIP Service NSW

I installed/updated via Aurora store, I have sandboxed Google Play/Services, But i do not have a google login, and am not logged into google play. I just install apps in aurora anonymous

First app I have ever seen do this. Even my HSBC and CBA banking apps work in Graphene

Would getting a throw away google account fix this if I signed into google play (sandboxed) with it?

No, unfortunately not. As per my previous post below: With this app update, there's no longer any way to login to that app on GrapheneOS. The developers of this app would need to allow it to run on non Google Certified OSes. You could contact them asking them to do the hardware attestation instead, as per the instructions below:

This issue is not a GOS issue, it is a government issue, I have another mobile with Android 9 last updated in 2020, and the Service NSW app worked until till recently, then recently stopped with this statement below. Just for the record, older version of this app are affected as well.

“It looks like your device may be using non-standard software
For your security, you will not be able to log in on this device.

It's not like it was the best app anyway. There is nothing you can't do in a browser, apart from the not having to carry your drivers licence. That was kind of convenient, but other than that the Government can stick this app up their arse.
