Hello everyone, new to the forum and GrapheneOS. I have an older Motorola Power 7 (android 10) and just got a new Pixel 7 Pro. I've installed GrapheneOS (13) on the Pixel 7 without any problems (haven't transferred the sim card yet) and all is well. Can someone point me to instructions to migrate the contacts and messages over to the new phone? Thanks for the help,

Don

Thanks, but I'm still a bit new to how things work. I assume I'll need to install sms-ie on the Motorola phone in order to do the export. I searched google play, but didn't see the app; is there another way to install it, or, did I miss something all-together?

Thanks, that got me going; I'll check back if I run into a hitch.

Everything went great until I tried to import messages, then got "This app must be the default SMS app to import or wipe messages". Seems odd to make a backup app the default messages app, or, is that how it works?

donb108 Use logic. Then set up default SMS app to what you had before. Job done!

OK, that did it; switched it to be the default, did the import, switched it back. Looks like everything's there. Thanks again.

donb108 Don't forget to turn airplane mode on temporarily while you have SMS I/E temporarily set as the SMS app. You probably don't want an incoming message handed to it!

Sorry for reviving this old thread, but my question fits here well.

I exported my contacts and messages with the app: com.github.tmo1.sms_ie-v1.5.4.apk

I was able to import the contacs, but not the sms, as GOS denies this app to access sms. FIXED: it can access sms, but it still is not possible to set as the default app for sms. The app needs to be set as the default sms app.

          What is the solution?

          Regards,
          Oliver

Goldtop57 go into the app info of that app, hit the three dot menu in the upper right corner and allow restricted permissions. That is, if you run the app in the owner profile.

O gosh, no, I didn't even realize that this was an older version.... gonna try again.

            Thx a lot!

Hm, I can set it as standard sms app, but importing the sms does not work, as the respective file is greyed out. Which is not the case for the contacts.....
