Eirikr70 I have set up Synapse and use both Element and Schildichat. Schildichat doesn't depend on Google Play services whereas most versions of Element do.
Eirikr70 Setting up Synapse might give you some headache, especially if you want federation, according to how comfortable you are with tech.

evalda I use matrix.org atm because I don't know which other homeserver to trust... It's not ideal tho, any recommendations for a reputable homeserver are welcome 🤗
[deleted] evalda Same. A lot of people just use Element with matrix.org which just kills the decentralized aspect of Matrix.
Eirikr70 I can open a server for you but I won't open it to the federation (so you would be able to join only the people who have an account on my server).
