How to contribute to GrapheneOS?

How could I non-financially contribute to GrapheneOS with just a Pixel device and an iPad?

First of all, thank you for wanting to help out!

What seems to be needed, in order of importance:

People contributing code and helping with OS development, app development (the GrapheneOS-developed apps for the most part) and maintenance (help with porting to new versions etc.)
Thorough testing. That means being willing to stay on the alpha/beta channel for the OS and/or GrapheneOS apps (Camera, PDF Viewer, Auditor) to help test new versions. https://app.element.io/#/room/%23testing:grapheneos.org is where this typically happens, and it is announced when new versions enter alpha and beta. All releases for both the OS and apps are production releases and nothing too likely to break on you. The reason for the alpha/beta channels existing is so that releases don't go out to everyone at once, so it would be great if we had more people in these early channels to test everything out and make sure nothing is broken. The reason we need more people is because something breaking might be dependent on one's setup, so that's where we need diversity and people using different apps etc.
Proper bug reports. If an issue is identified during alpha/beta testing, it would be great to let the team know in the room mentioned above, and if it is a bug that you've noticed that's outside of alpha/beta, to have good steps for the team to be able to reproduce it. Bonus points if you can determine whether it is an upstream issue or not (if you have a 2nd Pixel, keeping that on Stock to cross-reference that would be ideal).

I could try that but I doubt that it's possible or even practical to do on a phone or an iPad.

These two sound like something that I could try my best to help with.

I'd also like to contribute to GrapheneOS. Helping with app development is something I'd like to do, but I need to learn a lot more about developing apps & Android apps for that. I don't know if theres any special rules to be a forum moderator, but I wouldn't mind doing that either. For now I will continue contributing by helping out users on the forum as best I can. And of course, a big thanks to all the developers, moderators, forum users, and everyone else who helps develop, improve, help users here on the forum, report bugs, and just keep GrapheneOS going! I love GrapheneOS as my phone OS. And not just because its private and secure. I like it because unlike Apple and Google, GrapheneOS is open source with a big community that likes to help each other, we (the users) are always in the know, with updates and alerts being delivered to us whenever they are available, and because we can all contribute and help grow GrapheneOS. Keep it up guys. We are all part of this team effort to keep GrapheneOS going strong! 🫡
