It doesn't seem to work on pixel 7 pro despite the Google play store mirror. Anyone have any insight?

I remember having a similar issue. When the call was established, I couldn't hear the other person, and they couldn't hear me. Tried to use Signal instead for a voice call, which worked fine. I have a Pixel 6. I have all the Google Play Services installed.

6gsxdr3U Glad to know it's not an isolated issue. The same occurs on my end, tho I'm not entirely sure why

@6gsxdr3U @weasley I got Kakaotalk voice calls to work in GrapheneOS by going into App Info -> Advanced -> Configure Hardening and turning on DISABLE_HARDENED_MALLOC and ENABLE_COMPAT_VA_39_BIT. I haven't figured out which one is actually needed, but turning on both resolves the issue.

I currently have it in a dedicated secondary profile with Google Play Services, haven't tried with the Services diabled.

Snowyjune Tried it without Play Services, the calls work but I think Kakao uses Play Services for notifications, I've found that the notifications for calls would not come through consistently, especially if you are on another profile.

Oof really late, but I concur. Apparently, a cell service guy pointed out that by installing the Google app, Kakao is able to make calls, and that did work. However, I will try out your method at a later date just to confirm, but that'll take me as long as it took me to reply back lol. Kakao really needs to fix their backing up system, it's really terrible

I just wanted to add here that notifications for Kakaotalk work for me without Play Services. I have given Kakaotalk the permission to have unrestricted battery access.

There's been zero information on Kakaotalk on degoogled phones, and the only way to get the app is the Play Store, so I'm positively surprised that it seems to work without Play Services for notifications!
