not sure if anyone else is seeing this but now even searching for appname play store and opening the link in external app (aurora) isn't pulling up the app in question to download.
Aurora Store
I've switched to using the play store fully with an anonymous Google account

One solution is to use obtanium in "monitor" mode to check apkmirror for app updates, and get from apk mirror.

If you're in private/incognito mode it won't work. Copy the link to a regular, non-incognito tab. Does that solve your issue?
Aurora still not working correctly. Rate limited, time out....

hybridinear Yep, second that.
NewUser I have been using a throwaway email on Aurora Store with no problem.
Thanks for the tip! This was driving me nuts!

Hey guys,
I have another question regarding the Aurora store.
Does the store actually offer a self-update function or do you always have to download the latest APK's from the manufacturer?
I did not install the store via F-Droid but via the manufacturer's website.
Recently several new stable builds came out and the app unfortunately didn't offer me any of them for download.
In order to search for an app on Aurora Store using an external link, I tried Chromium based browsers like Brave, Kiwi...or Firefox and they all failed. The only browser that works every single time for me is Tor. I'm happy with this workaround but I still wish there would be more alternatives to Aurora where I could install apps on Google Play anonimously.

Hey thanks for your answer, but that's not what I meant unfortunately.
I mean the Aurora store app itself, not my installed apps.

Does anyone else have any ideas perhaps?

Hi V0nium!
Unfortunaltely, no.
But thanks for the question. Since I am also interested in this, I did some research again.
I didn't find a solution for automatic update of the Aurora Store App, but I found out that there is version 4.3.0 (48) (stable) since yesterday!
I downloaded it manually as .apk directly from the developer website and installed it.
Works fine!
[deleted] You could consider reinstalling Aurora Store from the F-Droid repo through an app store such as the F-Droid app, Droid-ify or Neo Store. You can keep it updated from there.
Or if you don't want to do that, you could consider using Obtainium and adding Aurora Store in it with the link to Aurora Store's Gitlab page. The apk signature from Gitlab is probably identical to the one from their website so it should work to keep it updated.
If you already use an F-Droid app store on your device, the simplest approach is probably to reinstall Aurora Store from there. If not, you can try out Obtainium.
I'm still getting rate limited. It's the difficulty in getting my apps installed and up to date on this OS that is stopping me from using Graphene OS for my daily main phone
galaxyegg GrapheneOS isn't at fault though, the rate limiting happens operating system agnostic. If you wish for a painless experience you can choose to use the official play store instead, remember you aren't locked into any of the options, pick what suits you.

Aurora store probably does ask the user to update It but What do you mean by 'Manufacturer'?

It's akin to saying: "I have a difficulty with my car. For an inexplicable reason, it drives slightly faster than whatever the posted speed limit is. It is preventing me from utilizing it to its full potential for fear of getting a fine. I'm very close to selling it and getting something else."
Echoing others:
- this is an app issue, it is OS agnostic
- there are 99 ways to install apps
- if a mop with a Samsung can find a way to install an app, so can you. No reason to throw GOS under the bus.
- there is a multitude of ways to use Aurora. A bunch of posts explain how to do it anonymously, via a browser link. It works well and I've been using it for months. (Because I'm always rate limited and don't use anything by G.)
Please do some research, or at the very least, a question should be asked in a manner: "I don't know how to do X, any tips? Thanks!", else you might get salty replies. The problem isn't with the car.
Hope this helps)
