Hello

I use phone as clock alarm and with other android phones (just switched to Pixel 6a with grapheneos) I used to turn off and schedule alarm triggers to turn on.

My experience with GOS is that it does not power on with alarm, when turn it on manually I just see a notification: "missed alarm".

I would like to know if this is due to the clock alarm app by default (so installing another may work?) or just that this function is not available in Pixels.

Thank you!

Hello,

What you are describing is not possible on modern Android.

The AOSP Clock app does not have high privileges to be able to turn the device on. If it did, it would have introduced a huge attack surface.

Alternatively you can put your phone on Do Not Disturb mode and turn Airplane mode on. You can also use user profiles to isolate apps and fully stopping them by "ending the session" of corresponding user profiles.

Hulk Thank you for your answer.

About the alternative, what is the advantage of using DND an Airplane mode together? With airplane there's no network available already, you recommend just in case I forget wifi on?

    • Hulk replied to this.

TracaChang there are some apps that will send a notification regardless of network availability.

For example, a calendar event or a "you might have new messages" WhatsApp notification.

Not exactly what you ask for, but one thing to consider is that you can set up the auto reboot feature and set it to something like 2 hours. That way your phone will always reboot when you sleep, clearing all user profiles, leaving only the owner profile remaining. Any alarm you make in the owner profile will still work, across all users throughout the device.
