I am new to Graphene OS. I have new pixel 7 pro running still the original google stock ROM. Now i can convert my sim to esim. I would like to know should i do the conversion on the stock ROM or should i do it after flashing the graphene OS on it or doesnt matter.

My old phone did not support esim but my operator does support it and i would prefer to use it.

I believe it will work either way, but it is my understanding that sandboxed Google Play will need to be installed while activating an eSIM on GOS, otherwise the settings you need will be greyed out. I think once the eSIM is activated you can then remove the Google stuff again if you wish.

grapheneman eSIM will persist when you install GrapheneOS even if you activated it on Stock OS. They're stored elsewhere. Factory resets also don't affect them.

very good point, i would remove google stuff after esim activation if this work that way, someone hopefully confirm this here

If it were me I would do the conversion on the stock OS. If anything goes wrong you can just call up the carrier's support and follow their directions exactly, send screen shots, etc.

after activating esim on stock OS, do i need to keep Google Play installed on graphene OS in order to use the esim far calls.

grapheneman No. Sandboxed Google Play is only needed on GrapheneOS at the moment for activation, not to use an existing eSIM.

Hi, I'll be traveling abroad next month, and I would like to get a foreigner eSIM there.
My Pixel 8 has two profiles, being the secondary the one that has sandboxed google play. The secondary profile already shares log calls/contacts/sms messages. Do you think it would be possible to activate the eSIM on the secondary profile? Or I would need to add sandboxed gplay on the main profile ?

mrw0lfe Edit: Sorry, I just noticed the esim support and add Sim options are only available on the main account...Well that answers it.
