Grab- Taxi app Crashes

In my country, Grab( an alternative to Uber) is the most popular taxi app. I installed it on a user profile with Google Play Services, Google Play Store.
But everytime I open it, it crashes and the whole phone screen turns white.
It's worth noting that the crashes still occur whether I install it via Aurora or signed-in Google Play Store.
Any help would be appreciated.

As a first step, go to Settings > Apps > Grab and if you see an "Exploit Protection Compatibility Mode" toggle, toggle that on and try again.

Hi. Thought I'd mention that my Grab app works fine. Installed it through Aurora and on a work profile with Google Play Store. Exploit Protection Compatibility is turned off too.

Tried Exploit Protection Compatibility Mode ON and OFF, both didn't work.
The guy above was kind enough to share that his Grab app works fine.
Maybe it has something to do with hardware rather than the settings? Mine is Pixel 6 btw.

shaldon I'm on the Pixel 6 too. I've had issues with other apps the past where they didn't detect that Play Services and Play Store was installed. After reinstalling the problematic app it usually works after.

jarell I set up a whole new user profile, installed everything Google Play Services, Google Play Store and of course Grab app.
And yet the crash still occurred.

@shaldon I had this exact same problem - permanent white screen.

The solution is to turn OFF location permission.

❌ allow while using app
❌ ask each time
✅ Fully disallow location

I'm guessing your location data is some how creating a issue for Grab. Perhaps you are in a country where they do not operate.

With location data off you can still manually input your address and use the app this way.

UserName123 Grab also refused to start for me too (no white screen, just instant crash) on my Pixel 6. I resolved it in a related way, by using a fake GPS location to have it appear that I'm in Indonesia so I could set up my Grab account and addresses prior to traveling there.

Another option would be to look at Gojek, an alternative app with similar features and another large user base, which runs fine from out of country and you just have to pick the country you're "in" from a list. FWIW I found it very fiddly to use, and I think Grab is a nicer app.

If anyone is looking how to set up a fake GPS location, which you can switch on or off as needed, and have several locations saved, first you need to enable developer options, which is very easy to do:

For Pixels, go to Settings > About Phone > Build number, and keep clicking on the build # until you're told Developer options are enabled. (7 times if I remember right.) You'll then have a new Developer Options page in your Settings.

You need to have a Fake GPS app installed. I've used this one for years:

Once installed, go to your Developer Options page and search for location, and change the setting to use this app as your fake GPS location app.

From then on you can use the app to set some favorite locations and turn the fake locations on or off.
