GrapheneOS Messaging version 13 released

The refreshed look and feel is fantastic!

Still basic only design changed. No drag and select or select all to delete option. No option to delete from notifications. Will these feature be implemented? For now I'll keep using fossify

Great work everyone :)

Reboot Will RCS with E2EE (when it's implemented) be able to work on secondary profiles or on Owner profile only?

Only on owner with the Google messages app. You also need to have carrier services installed in owner for e2ee. These apps cannot be in private space.

This messaging app does not have RCS.

Really liking it so far. Just switched to that Verizon Simplicity Plan for $30 month since in my Apt building nothing else works. However, over the last couple of days I keep getting an error from one person that a text couldn't be downloaded. Maybe this will fix it. You Added A LOT. Thanks

I don't know how I missed the future qualifier. I think it's fair to say they won't be able to answer any questions on a project they haven't begun.

I hope the weird notification issue from secondary profile is fixed! Can't wait to test! Thank you for the release

Johnnyloans This messaging app does not have RCS.

Yet. It's coming:

GrapheneOS on X: Messaging will be overhauled even more. We plan to add RCS support with Messaging Layer Security (MLS). That will provide E2EE with contacts using Google Messages or iOS. RCS with MLS can already be used on GrapheneOS via Google Messages but we want to avoid people needing it.

Hello GOS team,

Updated messaging app to new version. I'm not getting notifications and more when I receive SMS.

In old app, I had notification in notification bar ON, but sound of notification was "silence" or no sound. So it just shows notification that I have new message. But after update it's not showing notifications in notification bar any more.

Best regards

grain0613 I hope the weird notification issue from secondary profile is fixed!

If it's the same one I have where the notification would only go away once going back to the conversation list screen, no. At least for me, the notification doesn't go away at all now and has to be manually cleared instead of what I would expect of it going away once you view the conversation.

Hi, with the recent update to messaging app I no longer am able to send messages from secondary (my main) account. Owner is unaffected. Old app works as expected but with new it either tells me it failed to send or hangs and sending.. Any idea what may be causing this?

Graphene1

I'd like to report an issue where I cannot delete a message. I highlight/ mark with a tick, when I press delete it says "Failed to delete a conversation"

Sigismund

@GrapheneOS On top of that removing updates completely breaks sms app on secondary profile with multiple contacts shows an unknown..

I have a different issue, new message doesn't appear when checking the app from secondary profile. It would only appear after you go to owner and open the app there.

It's a bummer that your issue is not fixed.

ManofGraphene

I updated to alpha to try ot out, and an issue I'm having with both stock keyboard and FUTO keyboard is the keyboards no longer auto capitalizing at the start of a sentence.

ManofGraphene keyboards no longer auto capitalizing at the start of a sentence.

Here also.

It look very neat and clean. I would be great if the dialer and conracts apps followed a similar visual style, so they matched. And finaly don't look like they are from 2010.

xxx it will be fixed in v14. I opened an issue

I switched to this message app from another and now I keep getting notifications that I have XXX number of unread messages. Is there a way to bulk mark messages as read?

Other than that I have no issues with the new version.

CubedMel0n

Installed the alpha, visually a much needed improvement over the previous version.

Would it be possible to have automatic deletion of old messages? Like the user could specify say 3 months and messages older than that are deleted? That would be my killer feature request, that ans RCS but we know that's coming.

ManofGraphene

Developer-Dude Thanks! I currently do not know how to do it myself, but appreciate you taking care of it! I do not know how to code or anything, but whish there was something more I could do with my time to help or benefit GOS in one way or another. Currently I just try helping out on this platform when I can by trying to solve issues😊 (also convincing friends & family to GOS when practical)
